Navigating Cloud Migration with Atlassian

Jira Software and Jira cloud migration make it easier to transfer from one cloud environment to another thanks to Atlassian cloud migration. Data is transferred from one cloud service to another in a cloud-to-cloud migration. When you are ready to make the Jira site import switch from one cloud provider to another, you can do the following:

  • Merge information from several cloud services.
  • Divide a cloud site into sub-sites.
  • Make a copy of a server instance in the cloud.
  • Transfer data from one cloud storage to another.

Using this function by Greg Warner and moving Jira from one cloud provider to another requires an Atlassian partner, like an organization admin or a site admin. However, it is important to plan before attempting a cloud-to-cloud migration journey. You should check your destination site for any problems before the move and learn how the change may affect your billing.

Use the Ability to Move Data Across Clouds.

The first step in an Atlassian cloud migration is to access the source site or cloud service data center from which you will move your users and tasks. The Migration overview page displays information about your source sites, such as the various projects, members, migration assistant home groups, and web-based application.

From this display, you can read the server products that detail what you need to know before moving. You may also read the information at any time throughout your move by selecting migration strategy from the left navigation menu.

Start a Migration

When ready to start the migration process, click the Go to dashboard button. You may also go to the Migration dashboard from the sidebar to the left. All of your transfers are conveniently shown in one location on the dashboard. Until a new migration is made, it will remain vacant. Choose the option to start a new migration.

Choose Your Final Site

A cloud migration assistant’s name must be entered first. If you must perform more than one migration, it will be easier to tell them apart on the dashboard. Choose a Jira service management cloud service where you will eventually move your data and Atlassian applications. To perform a site migration, you must have administrative privileges in both the current and target organizations. Get the facts on superuser access to Atlassian server products.

The best way to begin a Confluence cloud migration to a new site is first to construct a new site and then include it in your existing company. After selecting a target Jira server, you can start adding projects for new migration by clicking the Choose projects button.

Pick Selected Migration Targets

Some or all of your projects may be done through the migration assistant. Your selected projects’ worth of problems, files, and settings will all be transferred over. You do not have to do anything to add users or groups to your migration. Since we do not assign users to groups during the migration process, they will not have access to Atlassian products or projects. After completing the transfer, you will manually assign people to groups. Choose Check for conflicts after you have narrowed down your list of tasks.

Ensure there are no disagreements

By using Atlassian tools, Atlassian is able to ensure that the target site is properly prepared for migration. This is done to detect any possible conflicts or undesired settings before the transfer can begin. At this point, your migration is saved and may be seen on the dashboard. Once you have finished reviewing your migration, you may continue to execute it. However, if any warnings or issues were found during the checks, you will need to fix them first.

Take a Look at Your Cloud Migration

You can see the status of your production migration here. This summary contains information about the migration configuration, the number of chosen projects, and the projected migration time. If you have any unresolved issues from the previous stage, you may fix them by clicking View errors and warnings up above or down below. Statuses in the Check and Fix phases are connected to any problems or warnings that arose in the preceding phase.

Initiate the Jira Cloud Migration

After you have started the migration process, you will be taken to the control panel. You can monitor the development of your migrations using the dashboard. If you click View details for a specific migration, you can see its special status. Users, teams, and individual tasks can all be tracked and viewed in detail on the View details screen. The migration status of users, groups, and projects is dynamic and will continue to change during the migration process.
